I have heard that Liberty Mutual Auto Insurance also has a smaller subsiduary that insures cars, and is less expensive. Does anyone know the name of that company? If you know, do you also know if they insure in NJ?

I already have Liberty Mutual, and their rates just went up! And not because I have had any claims. Just a rate increase. Someone here, Yahoo Answers mentioned something about Liberty Mutual having a smaller company that was less expensive. I am looking for the name of that company so I can check out their rates. And I am shopping for other insurance companys that have lower rates.

As far as I know, they're self-contained with different company names under the same Liberty Mutual Umbrella. Liberty Mutual's site lists a few subsidiary names, but they all sound like Liberty Mutual variance type names.

Getting liberty mutual to pay a claim is a lesson in futility. I swear, after driving around in a wrecked car calling them for a couple weeks their modus operandi is to simply stop answering your calls. Then after talking to the supervisor about the delinquent claims "expert", they'll promise to call you tomorrow with some progress, then won't, and then THEY stop answering your calls, too.
