3 year old dogs do NOT teeth, also a muzzel is a bad idea. The suggestion of a nasty tasteing spray should work well and you should try that and lots of exercise before considering crating your dog - long periods alone in a crate because of behavioural isseues generally doesn't do the dog any good, however much good it does your walls. On the note of exercise - your dog will need mental exercise as well as physical exercise, try to find a local training club or class to take him to 'school'. It's good fun and will improve your dog allround. A good club will also have experiance trainers who will have delt with similar problems before and will be able to give semi-professional advice withou the expense of a behaioural expert which can be expensive. You could also consider your dogs diet. This could be an indication that your dog is missing something. Maby talk to your vet. A check-up isn't drastically expensive and will show up any physical cause of the behaviour. If none of this works and you likenormal shaped walls then you should consider getting a behviouralist in despite the expense.

Actually, despite a previous answer you got, 3 year old dogs do not teethe!! How much exercise does this dog get? Sounds like he's bored and frustrated and by now chewing the wall is an ingrained habit that's going to be really difficult to break.

I'd say you might need to crate him when you're gone for long periods of time, correct him forcefully when you catch him doing it, and make sure he's getting both plenty of exercise as well as some obedience for mental stimulation.

My staffy done the same we tried everything and bought everything, then my son had a cold a had vicks vapour rub on and the dog kept barking at him, sounds stupid but we tried rubbing the vicks on placed that it was chewing and the dog would not go near it - you have a bit of a smelly house for a while but that's better than no walls. Try it you will be surprised.

if you have had him since a pup he should have stopped it by now If he has recently arrived try to keep him occupied, spay the wall with something that tastes awfull, hair lacquer is ideal get him some pigs feet from your local butcher,or a portion of marrow bone.TRY to be firm and scold him when he has done wrong, make sure you look him in the eye and raise you voice to him ,he will detect you are displeased hit him by dropping his ears and looking sheepish.its not cruel, just you being the boss

My staff did the same so i painted over the wall and he done it again this time getting dog hair stuck to the wall and paint in his mouth lol
i went to a pet shop and asked them what to do and they gave me a spray that has a scent in it that they don't like it makes them sneeze. I sprayed it on the wall on the shoes and on the pots in the garden and he has not gone near them since !!

Go to your vets and seek the advice of a professional dog behaviourist. There could be many reasons why your dog displays this behaviour and it should definitely not be simply accepted as habit.Your dog could be stressed about something and you need PROFESSIONAL advice.

Hi, does your wall have artex on it.

Our dogs all like artex as it contains animal bone. We eventually covered all the corners of our walls with clear pespex. They soon stopped then.
