The director of Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) Emilio Gonzalez (a naturalized citizen) created an award called the Outstanding American By Choice Award. Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff (Gonzalez's boss) awarded Gonzalez with the award Gonzalez created. To be eligible for the award you have to be a naturalized citizen. Is this ethical since Gonzalez created the award and it discriminates against native born americans?

I know, sometimes it feels there's all these awards for everyone except those that deserve it.

Actually, you might be eligible if you renounce your citizenship in disgust, move to another country, then swim back and get re-naturalized.

Personally I think my Dad should get the award, not Gonzalez. Gonzalez should get the Most Corrupt Legal Immigrant Award. Then give him a job at Enron.

Its not illegal, but I don't understand the point of it. Why should someone who is naturalized be any more special than a regular citizen?

Is it a financial award or is it just a medal?

It's not illegal-but I think the award should have gone to another person besides the creator of the award.
