Java has many versions and it has different setup for different platforms. Platforms means your Operating System like Windows, Linux, etc.

If you need to code downlaod JDK or the java development kit.
And if you need java just to run programs you need JRE the java runtime environment.
Both can be found in the downloads section at java.sun.com

Hi buddy go to this link. Here you can download Java Development Kit(JDK). Any one of the download will do.

Either go for "JDK 6" OR "JDK 6 with NetBeans 5.5(if you wish to work on beans)"

I would suggest JDK 6 for you.
