I looked at the IRS tax site this morning and they do e-file for free but it doesn't start til Jan 16. Anyone know of another free e-file site so I can file online today?

You cannot file online anywhere until January 12th. You wold be best advised to go back to the IRS website then and file your return through one of the providers in the FreeFile section. The earliest you can expect any refund is January 26th. You would have to submit your return and have it accepted by January 18th.

My dear, you can also go to your local IRS office, take a number and file your taxes for free. You will get them in the same amount of time as long as you do direct deposit. When you go to the IRS office, they go through your info with you and file electronically. Just get there very early and prepare to wait. (I do this every year and it's convenient and free.)
Happy filing.

I don't think any are free unless you file yourself the old fashioned way. I use H&R block, which only costs about $25. Plus you get your refund a lot quicker if you file electronically.

as far as i know the free ones are administered through the irs.gov, the rest like turbotax charge a fee regardless of income.
