Love your ideas!
Perhaps have caramel apples or a candy buffet for favors. You could also make cds of Halloween-ish songs.
Use blood red and black (gothic colors ala Dracula et al).
Have jack o lanterns lining the dance floor.
Use lots of traditional fall decor.

Search online for some more ideas or go to ChaCha as they have guides to help you. I really like what you have in mind.
I've known others to have a Halloween wedding. As you said, they usually have a costume party. Unless this is just for the reception, might want to see if your officiant will dress up as well for the ceremony.
This past Halloween, I performed the very first wedding at the WEBN Haunted House in Cincinnati. We had an arch draped with lights, spider web & spiders...Then the bridal party went through the Haunted House ( I did earlier with the lights on) which was fabulous.

We were going to do it but then decided not to.
You have to decide is it a theme or a free for all costume party.
If it's a theme you have to make it easy and affordable.
Some people won't come in costume.
We skipped the idea because we wanted pictures of everyone face's and with a costume party you never know what your going to get. And the theme idea was to costly and hard to put together.
Just sit down and write it all out and see if it can be done.

Is that really the statement that you want to make about your marriage? Is your entire life going to be based on make-believe and pretending to be someone you aren't? or just the wedding?
And why, oh why do people think that weddings have to have themes??? It is not prom; it is a serious, very important ceremony in which two people commit themselves to each other. You have the theme be anything else than that, you are drawing the focus away from what's really important and what you're really doing.
Also, keep in mind that not everyone celebrates Halloween, and not everybody feels comfortable dressing up in costumes.
Don't be surprised if some people consider it tacky, childish, or just plain weird.

I'm not sure what all you what to know but I would go with all fall colors. Like rusts, oranges, reds, yellows, browns and greens. You could easily go with a country look with bows tied out of raffia or go elegant with silk cream ribbon or any of the fall colors. I would go with cream or eggshell wedding dress so that the stark white would not clash with the softer colors of fall. Your reception ideas would be endless.

I agree on the not doing a costume party, but your other ideas sound good. My friend got a huge spider balloon that stood over the dance floor that was cool.
Good luck!

and you should wear a white dress with black bow on it or black thick stripe near stomach that goes all the way around.. have seen it, its really cute..
