Yes! What you believe is probably the reason why a lot of people are going to hell. 'I'm not so bad!' 'Look at that murderer / child molester, he deserves hell!'. But where to draw a line who gets saved and who doesn't?
As if you could 'earn' your salvation. This is found in all other religious beliefs but not in Christianity. The problem with earning salvation is that for some people it's easier to live a righteous life than for others. So it's unfair! And God cares especially about the ones who can't make it on their own.
That is why salvation is a gift and some people are too proud to accept it, because they think it will cost their lives. But what they get in return is priceless.
If you let the Holy Spirit into your heart, he will give you a longing to live righteous, and the strength to live it accordingly!

For Christians YES it is important. I believe in an eternal life and I believe there is a hell. I do not want to live eternally in hell so I know being saved is extremely important. Yes living right and doing good is a great thing! But why not live right, do good, (which by the way does not get you into heaven) and and think about where you want to live your eternal life? Why would one not want to be saved?

When you are saved God can do more good (including miracles) through you than you can do for yourself. Salvation can fill you with God's power by the baptism of the Holy Spirit and by God you are put in Christ who is your righteousnes and your wisdom. Salvation have a lot of other benefits which if you study God's word you will know.

Depends on your belief system. According to most christians, I'm going to hell simply because I was never baptised and I'm very cynical when it comes to religion so I don't forsee it happening. I try to lead a good life...but I'm still going to hell because I won't let an old man dunk my head,ooga-booga, and then wow I'm going to heaven.
Personally...I think if being saved makes you feel better then by all means,do what you have to. You have to do it all for the right reasons though...think about it. Are you going to be saved because you love god or because you fear hell.
I don't fall into either category.

Salvation is of the Jews. Gentiles receive Grace. Your good works is what gets you your reward. But, we are all sinners, we sin each and every day. We can not over come these sins by ourselves, ask and you shall receive. God will not help you unless you ask.
Example you can't stop lusting after a co-worker, you ask God for help. God can cause you to be fired, make you go blind or cripple, but he will answer your prayer.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!

Then why do you worry about it at all? The whole god will save you from your sins if you repent evil thing I mean. Think about it logically, it is just there to maintain order amongst those that are unstable mentally and are prone to chaotic actions.
A mass propaganda to control the masses of the past and continued into the present.

It's an important symbol in context of the story. It is a military term meaning; to free the prisoners held captive by the enemy. Spiritually it is referring to the idea frameworks that people are 'imprisoned' in, hence the phrase,"...and the truth shall set you free..."---the 'enemy' is anyone who seeks 'to lead you into captivity'.-------the freedom spoken of is the freedom to create your life, with no limitations. In other words, the sky's the limit.---So, do you need 'salvation'?

Being "saved" is really just a money making scam that keeps the religious showmen in tax free money. Just be good. Don't feel guilty about not "paying up".
