Same thing happened to me. I worked out for six months and had to go buy new pants in a larger size - depressing! But, six months after that, I was buying pants smaller than the ones I wore originally. It's like my body built the muscle first just adding to my size and weight and then the fat fell off leaving me nice and lean. Keep at and don't get frustrated - it will totally be worth it!
