In most countries, as in Holland, one has register in order to be a donor. Despite this, the shortage of donor organs is massive! People have to wait for many months in order te recieve what they need. This is not because people dont want to be a donor, but because they just dont find the time ( lazyness, etc) to fill in the forms.
Wouldnt it be better if people are automatically a donor, unless they officially object? It is proven that when people object to something, they take stringer measures to make sure their voice is heard.

There is no force involved by making people automatically a donor, but giving them the option to de-register not to become a donor.

I personally, would be very very very proud if another person could live because of something tragic as a death of a loved one. It is like your loved one lives on. Besides, organ operations is like any other surgical procedure.

I wish everyone would sign up to be an organ donor. You could save a life. This past year my brother (22 yrs old) found out his heart is bad and needed a transplant. Luckily he received his heart after being on the list for 3 weeks. We thank god everyday for his new life. We are forever grateful for the person and family for being a donor. You never think someone in your family would need to have a transplant, I know I didn't. But it can happen. I just wish people would be more aware, that it only takes a minute to get on the donor list.
***You can also register online through the Secertary of State website. You don't even have to leave home***

I have done some research on this many years ago. In the us you can decide to be an organ donor and they will put it on your driver's license....but....your family gets the final word. It is sad, but all that tells your family is you want to. If the person that has medical power or your husband/wife/parents/kids/ etc. objects, then you don't donate your organs. Sad isn't it.

before everything, i'm no longer particular that you may do issues to make a distinction only for the popularity. This often leads to low high quality artwork and/ or boredom on your section. yet extremely, you may do some thing! Many places settle for fourteen three hundred and sixty 5 days previous volunteers, so ask at places that pastime you! you would possibly want to %. up trash, do straightforward jobs for no pay, or commence some little organisation that you comprehend doesn't exist. Fourteen three hundred and sixty 5 days olds have began slipper/ shoe drives, raised money for various of charities, and such. Or, for sure, you are able to take section in walks or inspite of for good causes, alongside with Relay for life. Very relaxing, and gratifying. EDIT: i'm no longer particular no matter if you comprehend the poster who advised you to benefit in the previous you commence spewing out stuff, yet what do you advise by way of "human beings like you"? did you comprehend this woman? The corrupt authorities stuff become uncalled for, and he or she become basically expressing her view on your reality.

it should be left as it is at the moment ,apart from when someone carrying a donor card has stated that their organs can be donated, their next of kin should not be allowed to cancel that decision.I had a liver transplant April 2005,and previous to that i didn`t think i would ever need a donated organ.I didn`t want to donate my organs,it may sound selfish but its the truth.when i was told i needed a liver and went onto the list,I am glad i received my liver from some one wanting to donate ,not forced to donate

They should all become donors in manner of sketch in Monty Python's 'Meaning of Life' ;)
Actually, I have no idea. It's a deeply personal thing for each person, and, even if they do wish to donate, their family sometimes refuses to do it.
I guess better education may help, but often you can't persuade people about matters like that

I know in the US when you renew your driver's license they ask you if you want to be a donor and then they will put it on your license that you are a donor so that when you die, they can take out whatever organs they want

What a brilliant idea! Bet people would get off their lazy backsides to fill in a form if they DIDN'T want to donate organs! Let's hope the powers that be take the initiative on this. Well done!

The first stage should be to make organ transplant a members' club.
At the age of 18, you would have to opt in or out. Those who opt out would not be eligible to receive transplants.
This would eliminate all those whose religions prevent them from donating but are nevertheless eager recipients.

You can't force people to donate their organs. It is very hard for relatives of the deceased to agree to them being cut open for organ removal. How would you feel?
I understand that they could save someone's life, which is a great gift to give, but this has to be a free choice.
Its the law of nature that some survive and some die. unfortunately this is necessary in order to stop us from multiplying too fast.

Is there a question in there or do you just want us to know how you feel? Either way I agree with you totally, it should be an opting out process rather than an opting in.
