Going to church to be considered good Christians by whom? Forget that !Go to church to worship Godand to thank Him for all he does in your lifeand the very ability to appreciate each moment .You were created for relationships ,With God and with people . That involvement within a group of people with the same desire will open your eyes to the real purpose God made exclusively for you.He really wants a wonder full relationship with you . One that will last forever. Do not be disheartened by people who are critical , I would suggest that you are being sensitised by God thru those folks in order for you to reach out to your loving Father. agape love to you !

Going to church is misunderstood - because the believers in Christ are really the church. It's not a building.
The body of Christ is the real church. The body has parts - and as believers, we should be connected to the "other parts" of the body. That's why spending time with other Christians is important.
So if you're getting together regularly with other believers - trying to walk in the path that God has given you, functioning in the world, then you're being obedient to Christ.
Good Christian? I prefer the term effective Christian.

There will always be that disapproval from some - because they believe the church is everything ("A good Christian will want to go")
But the most imporatant thing is your relationship to God. God is outside the church as well as inside it. Church is not a requirement - and many have forgotten this.

Jesus commands us to go to church. One scripture is in Hebrews 10:25- Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Note: The word not is a command word.
Here is another verse for you.
Luk 14:23 And the lord said unto the servant , Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel [them] to come in , that my house may be filled.
Note: Jesus wants us to be in church even he when he was 12 was found in his Father's house and many times after that.

There is no such thing as a good Christian only forgiven Christian. Going to Church will help you stay closer to Jesus. We live in a world of garbage and need to be refreshed by fellowship with other believers and God's Spirit. Perhaps you should find a Church that inspires you more.

I go to church to worship God, and to be ministered to...to learn something more about God or the Bible. If you are uncomfortable there, maybe you are in the wrong church, and you need to find one that is smaller, bigger, a different denomination, where you do feel comfortable, and can fit in.
The church where I go is bigger than the one where I used to attend, and there are all kinds of things going on. They have programs for my kids, places that are safe for the teens to hang out, women's groups, men's groups, etc, and there seems to be something for everyone. I need more from a church than just sermons and prayer. Shop around! Ask your friends where they go, and what they like about it. If you were uncomfortable with your doctor, or hairdresser, you'd go somewhere else...
Good luck!

Being a Christian has more to do with attitude and what is in your heart than what you say or do.
If you look at your question, you see a lot about what your attitude towards God is. You go to church "WHENEVER I FEEL LIKE IT.". You do WHAT I DEEM CORRECT.
Is your faith based on Jesus Christ or yourself?
Being a Christian means "loving God with ALL of your heart, ALL of your mind, and ALL of your soul and your neighbor as yourself. " Jesus did not add "whenever you feel like it" or "as you deem correct" at the end of His commands.
A person should go to church not as an obligation, but as an expression of his or her love of God and his or her neighbor. Going to church is when we gather TOGETHER to worship and praise God and to support and love one another.
A Christian is not just an individual, but a member of the Body of Christ. When you do not go to church a part of that Body of Christ is missing. You are needed and wanted at the church. If you are a member of the Body of Christ, you should be at church.

You shouldn't be worrying so much about how you are considered. Worry about how you ARE.
But I often found going to church helped me keep a good attitude & mindset. I'm not religious any more so I feel it would be hypocritical to go. I miss it. I live in a small town & there's not Unitarian church or I would be going there.

No! Don't go to church! Let's abolish the insitute church and start living as real Christians, focused on loving people with other beliefs, praying until we bleed and caring for the needy people.
Don't care about what other people think of you, be focused on what God thinks of you.

can those 'some' who disapprove of u affect ur life just so much that u r not able to live happily???
u know wat u r
do u have that self respect for urself ?
a person requires respect to live in a society(some dont care)
a person requires self respect TO LIVE
and being a christian is just a relegious division
u r a human being first and then a christian
be a good human...coz when it is time to be decided as to whether u will go to hell or heaven...ur respect in the society that u had will be of no use...ur goodness as a human matters the most
