UGH DR'S!! Ok, so I'm probably gonna get a few thumbs downs for this answer, but in my opinion, you should seek councelling. I don't think medication is always the answer, its like you go to your dr and say your down, and they say Oh you must be depressed, well do I have a cure for you! and they give you a pill to take, that will have lots of side effects, and just numb you. If you are having problems, I suggest talking to a therapist. You need to get to the bottom of your problems without numbing them. UNLESS you have a real chemical imbalance problem. But not just for feeling down. Do what your gut tells you to do. But If I were you I'd get a second opinion.

There are other options to Prozak. Most with a less bad reputations as Prozak.
I'd ask your Dr for the available alternatives. Don't forget it's addictive & getting off them will be scarry.

I have heard bad things about prozak. If it is not working tell your doctor and if you doc doesnt listen its time for a new one. You need to feel comfortable or at least as much as you can with a professional when you see him/her.

If you really don't think you need them then slowly ween yourself off of them. You should do this under Dr supervision. The other thing to remember is that once you take the prozac for awhile, you will begin to feel better and you may not think you need them anymore. The problem for some people is that once they go off the meds, their symptoms of depression return and even worse than before.....so be careful.

First of all people need to know what they are talking about before they answer. I took Prozac for several years! I thought that I was no longer depressed because I was living in a stress free environment I stopped taking the Prozac (again after several years) I had no withdrawals at all not one! They are not additive! I am doing just fine! Don't listen to people who will tell you that Prozac is additive. I had no side effects whatsoever! I didn't cry as easily, I didn't crumble apart easily. I would suggest that you go ahead and take Prozac. It was a life saver for me.

I say get a second opinion. Because alot of doctors think that Prozac is the answer to everything. And alot of people don't realize how addictive that stuff is.

If your doctor beieves you may need them, he or she may be right. Prozac isn't particularly dangerous. Despite what some say, they aren't dangerous. I have taken them and had no ill effects. Contrary to popular belief, they are not addictive.

get a second opinion, you shouldn't be going to a doctor that you feel is making you believe you are depressed.

G don't take them if you don't feel you need them. The Doctor can't make no money if you ain't depressed, sick or insane.
