Why is it that certain sects of Christianity are using a graven image of a flag to make children swear allegence to Jesus? Does Jesus even want allegence? Isn't that militaristic?

Well, I guess they saw kids doing this to the american flag every morning in school, so they thought well they should be pledging to Jesus first and foremost before the american flag. My opinion only though, I'm not really sure though. Who cares? I mean we do pledge allegiance to Jesus to be a disciple and go out into the world to bring people the news. So why are you so offended that Christians have a flag to do it to instead of anyone else?

Sounded extra like Preaching than a query, yet Jesus could would desire to pledge allegiance to no flag, simply by fact Israel replaced into nevertheless a rustic of settled those with out diverse barriers or national identity. i don't understand if he could have been huge on national delight the two - regarded extra a guy or woman of the individuals form-o'-guy.

I would be a bit dismayed to find my daughters pledging allegiance to Christ before the age of 8, and forced to do so at that. What would be the point in it, acceptance of Christ is something a child who has "come of age" can do, but a small child, like a 5 year old, has no concept of what they are doing.

Oh, and I'm a southern baptist Christian btw.

The whole idea of giving your soul to jesus, and jesus saving you and jesus dying for our sins etc. is an invention of one group of followers of jesus. Others at the time had other ideas. It became popular, but it has nothing much to do with jesus message as far as i can see.

Jesus taught love, forgiveness and trust in God. These are the principles that i follow.

"I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag, and to the Savior for whose Kingdom it stands. One brotherhood, uniting all people in service and love."

I learned it as a child. Not really that militaristic. Just a reminder that all believers are united with Jesus, and each other, and are expected by Him to love and serve our fellow men and women.

Since you feel that not all Christians act this way, perhaps it would be good for more churches to teach their people this simple, but profound pledge.

There are no 'sects' of Christianity, there is just Christianity.

And we have Jesus, and don't need a flag.

i don't think its for Jesus, its more of a symbolical thing. almost like a form of meditation because u stare at the flag and nothing else and concentrate on your words to Jesus.

The Christian flag is very unscriptural and of the world. It is a comandment of man taught as Christian doctrine.

You know what, Jesus wants praise! But I think we should be careful of what worldly items we make to worship him because it solely says you should not make or worship an idol or or any image that is not God.
