Would you be comfortable with your children using this religious forum for research? If so how old would you say is ok?
After some of the filth lately I have actually banned it from them but I think it's a shame still. I did post on the Answers forum and I hope Yahoo cleans things up - am I too optimistic sometimes.

Reverend Red Mage : I meant the avatars mainly but there is some text that's not suitable in my view as well.

I do't think there should be an age limit. Just because one gets to be over a certain age that doesn't mean one can no longer be interested in these topics.

I allowed my kids, ages 11 and 14, to use the forum until the porn avatars started showing up. Since then the 11 year-old has been banned. That's a shame too, because he's asked some excellent questions here and has earned more best answers than I have. My 14 year-old gave it up on his own.
This forum has become a place for mature participants only. I say 18+ is a good start.
***I know that Yahoo! says 13 and up, but the answerer above me commented on maturity levels. My son has shown more maturity than many of the adults here.

A child's mind is young and naive as adults we should not have the mind of a child. We are to teach and set a good example of the difference between childish behavior and adult behavior.
For those adults that choose excuses to behave in a childish manner it's going to be a long hall. There are parents and grandparents on here that don't buy into the concept of pornography being mature content regardless of the label. Obviously questioner has chosen to teach their child what is appropriate for mature adults to behave like and what is not.

Define "filth".
I wouldn't want students coming on here during school hours because of some of the assholes posting porn on their avatars.
Other than that, this IS an open forum, and Yahoo! can only censor it so much.

Teenagers. Any younger, and they really shouldn't be here even without the trolls. The discussion would be too advanced for them to understand.
It is hard enough now. I just had to explain off the board what an allegory was, because I posted an obvious one.

No one under 14 at a minimum. 18 to 21 might prove better.

With the way people act around here.
We're in the 3-5 year old camp.
