It's not easy, but I believe if the two involved really care about each other and want to make it work they can. There are some challenges to it, but that comes with any relationship. You have the Internet , phone and mail to use as communication options until you both can be physically together. I found the biggest drawback was the feeling insecurity. You feel so distant at times and your mind starts to make you wonder is he/she doing anything they shouldn't and also you feel the distance that comes with the fact you can't see each other as much as you desire. It's alot of work to keep each other feeling secure in the relationship, but anything worth having is worth the effort. Good luck and I hope all works out for you.

I am in the US and my girlfriend is in Romania. We have been together for about a year in a half. I don't know if there is a right answer to your question. I know that we try to keep talking and keep the love upfront. We have had our difficulties. The distance, physical contact and trust. The only thing we know for sure is that we love eachother and want to be together. If we stay true to that, the relationship will work. Its my first long distant relationship, I'm still learning of how to deal with the difficulties. We love eachother, have hope and it makes the struggles worth it all.

It depends a lot on you and what you want. Do you want to be with this person? Do you love this person?

then: At some point in time, you or the other party have to be willing to close the distance. It can with a lot of work.

100% honesty, commitment, trustworthiness, faithfulness, openness, ongoing and daily communications, regular meetings (if it's too far away, then 1-2x a year is fine). Believe me, it works wonderfully if you can apply those things to your relationship and so does your bf/gf. If there's any slight possibility that your bf/gf isn't 100% faithful and trustworthy, then save yourself from headache and leave. I did it and if I had to choose again, I would still choose this kind of relationship!

Trust is the keyword if you loose trust then the relationship goes downward. Treat your spouse as if he/she was just near you and stop that jealousy crap coz that ruins a beautiful relationship

try not to argue with that person. don't call them all the time. don't be annoying. don't have sex right off the bat when you don't know that person that well. they will know what it is like and get bored of it specially from the other partner. they will get it from somewhere else
