In order to fight terrorism it requires more than just killing or jailing people. You must attack the sources of financing and sponsorship of their actions. Afghanistan was ruled by the Taliban. They hosted and supported the efforts of Al Queda. Attacking this country to remove that regime was a correct action. As to Iraq I always thought it was a mistake to use terrorism as a justification. However it did not mean that we did not have justification at all. We were justified in our actions against Iraq from the moment they violated the ceasefire agreement from the first gulf war. The fact that people ignore this basic fact shows the level of dishonesty present in our debates on the war. Lastly the idea that we should have attacked Saudi Arabia just because some of the World Trade Center terrorists were from that country is among the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. Saudi Arabia has always acted in good faith as our ally. I can't count the number of times they have acted in our interests in relation to OPEC, but since this doesn't fit the agenda for many it will always be ignored. You have 2 choices in regard to terrorism. Attack them where they are, or fight them in America, but either way we are going to have to deal with them because they are not going to stop.

In the Iraqi case you are dead on. As for Afghanistan the govt of the time was protecting the terrorist and thus were a legitimate target. Thus our being in Afghanistan is quite justified. Iraq on the other hand was all Bush and Cheney ideological wet dream and w have been paying for it ever since.

because some presidents get elected that have too many buddies. there are not enough jobs in the 100 + page book, that the president gives his buddies. so they create a bigger government through an imaginary/real war to give their buddies jobs.

edit. bryan. the violation of the cease fire gave the UN a right to act,not the US independently. as far as saudi arabia, they supported price increase and production cuts in the 1973 embargo.

As for the answer, we're at war with them because they were in the wrong. What made them special, what made them any worse than any of the other countries with worse dictators or militian gangs I don't know.

America is at war because it's government wants to. 9/11 is being used to usher in the NEW WORLD ORDER. People all over the world, especially the Americans, are being duped into giving up their freedom. I'm sure you've heard the government say that you will lose some of your freedom in exchange for added "security" measures, right? Open your eyes my friend. The US government is evil to the core. The plan is to ethnically cleanse the world of Arabs, steal their wealth and control the world. Indiginous populations will, in future be kept in a "zoo" environment with the US keeping them as "pets". How f*cking wrong is that.
