i was just wondering if you can use pounds over there a few people have told me you can. also anyone have any idea how many cigs you can bring back ive been told only 400 ?

Yes you can, but a lot of places that advertise prices in pounds have ridiculously inflated prices. Do the locals a favor and keep prices down by changing your pounds for YTL at one of the many currency exchanges (doviz in Turkish) and using them accordingly.
Contrary to what the above poster said, avoid Gumbet unless your idea of a good time is watching 16-year-olds from Essex power vomit while waiters named Mehmet try to hit on them as their latest romantic conquest. There were condoms floating near the beach there last year. Try Turkbuku or Yalikavak for something more upscale, or Gundogan or Gumusluk for something more folksy.
As for the ciggies, I don't smoke so I don't know but I think it's 400.

some places you can use pounds. But you wont have a problem because theirs heaps of places to exchange money.
Regarding the ciggys, i cant help you out their as im not from England. You might have to check with someone that knows..
Make sure you go to BARLAR SOKAK (bar street)
Theirs a club called DEJAVU... tell them your turkish female friends from Sydney Australia say hello and they'll look after you.

yeah u can use pounds or euros but i would change my money into ytl because they rip u off if you us pounds or euros you can only bring back 400 cigs back with you to the uk

No problem with USD, Euro, UK Sterling in Turkiye.
