This is a hard question. See, one coffee cup actually holds two cups of coffee. But the directions on the conatiner says for one cup of coffee, use a tablespoon. But...which one?

I use a non-heaping tablespoon for one coffee cup, which is less then what they reccomend. Then again, I also have an hours drive to work, and no chance of a pit stop. I'd actually NOT drink any coffee if I could in the morning, but at 5 am, it is really dark and really easy to just go back to bed.

Not to mention that I am cranky without it. They wrote it into my contract...I have to have a cup. Otherwise, they get to drive a stake through my heart.

But thats just me. Now, we're not barristas here. We don't have a billion dollar machine to make french/italian/Dr Seuss named cups of coffee, which, when translated actually comes out to "Big cup of coffee", "Strong cup of coffee", "Coffee to peel paint with", and my personal favorite, "Your kidneys now hate you". So, I actually pulled out the directions for our restaurants for making a good cup of coffee.

1. Find a blend you like. My favorite blend is "caffeinated". Avaliable anywhere.
2. Measure out the appropriate amount of coffee grounds. This is based on how strong you like your coffee.
3. Use cold water in the machine. Although, I have no idea why. I think it has something to do with the Cold Water Association getting their hooks in the coffee industry.
4. Do not let it sit over 20 minutes. Coffee DOES cook (then burn, then turn into tar, at which point it is no longer a drink but a food) on the burner. Omelets do too, but that was messy, so I don't reccomend it for anyone that isn't a bachelor.
5. Doctor it to your hearts content. Add cream, sugar, equal, sweet n low, whipped cream, more coffee, ice, water, lemon, peppermint...whatever you want. Just not all at once...all those items together wold equal more then your cup can hold, and there would be little room for the coffee.

Tomorrow, I'm making hot chocolate using coffee...should be interesting.

I'll do my duty in giving you my secret recipe to the perfect cuppa.

Take 3/4 cup of boiled milk(full cream)
Add 1 1/2 teaspoons coffee
Add Desired amount of sugar (2 works for me)
And top up with boiling water.

If its a bit to creamy for you add more coffee.

Or for an even better taste mix milk and coffee in a frother.

Follow these easy steps and soon you will be sipping on an "out of this world experience"
ENJOY

You could use my measurments, just pour enough coffee into the filter untill you think you have enough to be just right for the amount of water you use.

Or...follow the directions on the package.

You can read some interesting facts about coffee, such as about how people use to eat the coffee beans, on this site.

I really dont know how to make a good cup of coffee. I actually hate it but i can tell you a good flavor of coffee (this coming from someone who hates it) is Kona coffee from Hawaii. I went there this summer and I tried it and it was really good. if you want to try it you can order it from hilohatties.com. but i hope this helps you out somewhat!

Take one heaping tablespoon for every two cups on your pot scale. Use fresh cold water and put a pinch of salt in grounds to cut down on the bitterness

I put one teaspoon of coffee to one cup of water. Right now I'm just drinking Folgers Special Roast.
