Firstly English is the universal language that most of everyone could use everywhere. As the world twirling for many years with English for the common and basic language. Every parts of the objects, events, any printed matter around the world, every single corner we had have passed that deal with English. But not all. I've learn English for many years yet still under level. Even said not understandable. Because English not my native mother tougne, I just want to know more things because there with English subject, what I realised, there's only printed in Engish, I will try my attempt to learn what is the meaning. And I hope will get better know on this subject. Why not?Once get better on your second language whether is English or others. That's one of the benefit to know the world better and Easier!

Well, in a way it would be nice if everybody spoke the same language, and I don't mean English, though it would save me the time of learning another I don't see English as being better or worse than Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese, etc.

The problem is that even if we all spoke the same language the dialects and slang would make it impossible to understand each other. There are plenty of examples where the same word in US English and British English do not mean the same thing. For example in England, chips means French Fries and crisps mean chips. That is not to say either side is right or wrong, just different.

So I am not sure everybody in the world learning the same language, and we will leave English out of it, would change things one whit.

I agree. One has to learn English so that the person can go freely any where in the world. It is the International language spoken almost everywhere in the world. It acts as an umbrella to safeguard one's interests. A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the Internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of on line courses, which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt

No, I think that Americans should learn OTHER languages, rather than everyone learn ours. I'm saying Americans because I'm pretty sure that they learn English in other countries because of America. We are so ignorant sometimes and we should learn other peoples languages!
