Roy Jones still says he is the best fighter pound for pound. Read wat he said and tell me wat u guys think about it

There is a possibilty that Roy Jones Jr will face Bernard Hopkins in July of this year. Jones feels that a fight with Hopkins is huge and when he is motivated, he is still one of the best pound for pound in the world.

In regards to fighting Hopkins, Jones Jr tells Mark Vester of BoxingScene.com that he'll be motivated, basically warning when he is on his game, he is the Best Pound for Pound in the game.

Quoted by BoxingScene, Jones Jr said: "I would be real motivated for Hopkins, and when I'm motivated I'm the best best pound-for-pound fighter in the world." Jones added: "I know what people think, but I'm still the same Roy Jones."

Hopkins vs Jones Jr is not set in stone as Team Hopkins has also been reported to be in talks with Joe Calzaghe's team for a match in July of this year.

Rory Jones Jr. is a proud champion do you think he got where he is at by not having confidence in him self all champions say they can do it when no one else be lives in them I know that Roy is not the same fighter he was in 1993-2003 but he is still a lot better that most of the fighters in his weight class ? do you think Jermain Taylor can bet Roy if Roy could make weight p.s remeber Roy has beaten Hopkins befor

Roy needs to hang it up along with Hopkins both fighters were great for the sport and had long proud careers but neither has what it takes anymore. Roy got beat down twice by by the magic man and Hopkins can't seem to beat Taylor. I used to love Roy Jones JR. in the ring but he doesn't have it anymore.

I think it is hard to take for Roy that he isnt the best pound for pound any more as you could probably say he was the best p4p between 1993 and 2003, i would say he is still living in hope that he could once more become the best but i think we all know that he has no chance of getting back to the old Jones Jr that used to blow away every opponent who was put in front of him.
I wish he would just give it in now, he will always be remembered as a great fighter but he is doing far more harm to himself and his career by carrying on.

i imagine Jones might want to embarrass Calzaghe. If Joe tried to come back at Roy with that kitty-cat pawing at a ball of yarn type of scuffling with that he had, then he'd get his face damaged. I not in any respect changed into on the Calzaghe bandwagon, and that i hated how he threw those stupid pittypat punches like he changed into taking section in tag or something. besides, for as quickly as Calzaghe changed into, a best Jones is faster, has better reflexes, better timing, judges distance better, and punches harder. i imagine it could be a one sided beating.

I would watch it. Jones has not been the same fighter since the Tarver knock out. I would still say he is one of the 50 best fighters active today, yet not pound for pound. Mayweather gets my vote.

Nope...that title is not held for a long time and not designed to in the boxing game. The Cat from Grand Rapids Michigan is best pound for pound right now...until the next guy comes of age.

When the year 2000 came around, RJJ was voted Boxer of the Decade for the 90's...a huge accomplishment.

When he's ultra confident, he's unstoppable.

I think he needs to hang it up before he turns into Mike Tyson, Jr.
