ME and this guy DAted for 1 month 3 yrs ago-broke up for unknown reason-he's confessed he likes me ALOT after. Then pulled away.VERY complicated story so i'm going to tell the important facts.
He tells me in exact words now; HE WOULD DO ALMOST ANYTHING FOR ME - HE FEELS EXTREMELY CLOSE TO ME-CAN TELL ME ANYTHING- he Jokes I think by saying (you know I still love you: I love you: You know I love you) . says alot of MORE THEN FRIENDS(wink) comment.He says WE WANT THE SAME THINGS-but he can't see it working out LONG TERM? We have Everything in common,Same passions,we laugh all the time.Weve kissed before about 3 months ago.He said he doesn't want to be close friends, cause he's afraid he'll kiss me. He always compliments me, but sometimes he gets defensive.Hes dated other girls in teh time we haven't dated,same with me.
I know he EITHER reallly likes me, or HE is playing with my emotions.
What do you think?

He always instigates everything to do with US... I never do... But as soon as I talk abotu it with him, he backs away. Is he scared ? I know he's been hurt bad by his ex over 6 yrs ago. But how can I help him know that there is better for him ? And I know I can make him happy - when we dated we had SUCH a good time... he even admitted it.
But sometimes he acts like he's playing me, but then the exact opposite.. I don't understand it.

I think he does care about you,but I don't think he wants a serious relationship,which if you guys have all the things in common you say and if he would put effort into it,I think you guys would make the perfect couple.If YOU really want him tell him to quit playing games and try to build something.Best of luck!

leave the young man alone. he is not interested in a relationship but is just having some harmless fun. he flirts with you because he just feels like it. the fact that he backs off each time you want to discuss your relationship shows that he is not serious and he doesnt want anything deep. whether hes been hurt or is insecure has nothing to do with you. when he sorts his life out, if he still wants you, then he can give you a call if you are still available. at that time, he can be upfront about what exactly he wants

He's either trying to get in your pants or he's immature and really likes you.
Take it one step at a time. If you are this unsure about him, date someone else. How does he "still love you" when you were only dating for one month 3 years ago?
Tread carefully. Keep your eyes and ears open.

sometimes it is the most defensive way of saying that he still love his ex and trying to move on through you. I guess he is making himself happy by conditioning his mind and self being with you. Maybe the things that is showing on by him to you were the things that he wants to do to his ex but dont have the chance anymore so he sees you in his ex gf place. or maybe he still like you but is not yet ready to jumped in another relationship... dont be rush and just enjoy the way he does by keeping each nothers company happy...
