What difference does it make? Miracles have nothing to do with proof of anyone being the Messiah. The only issue is whether or not the person fulfilled the prophecies given to the Jews, in the Torah, by God. Neither Jesus nor Buddha did this. Therefore neither are the Messiah. Buddha never claimed to be the Messiah. Jesus did - or at least his followers did (and do). At least Buddha didn't lie.

Sorry to disagree to most of your opinions......... i am sure that most of you have a wrong idea on what the real meaning of buddha. Buddha can perform miracle but he was an ordinary human and he teach many ways to his followers to be buddha before he leave this "world" .the "story" that you all know now might written by someone far 4000 years from now. There are actually some "bible" that written by his main follower infront of 500 Lohan and every words that written in the "bible" is actually what buddha gautama had said and must have the promission from all those people. i would feel thankful to those who can correct for my misunderstood for the buddha's wisdom.... thank you!

There are a lot of Religious stories that grew up around the story of the buddha. Most of them are probably just myths. A lot of them are the kind of thing that people experience during their meditations rather than things that they actually saw with their eyes open.
Buddha himself said - anyone who cultivates miraculous powers is no student of mine. He didn't believe it was a good thing. So it is quite likely that he never did anything terribly mysterious. His main spiritual ability was the ability to be always happy. And that's what he wanted people to learn.

Buddha was a man and never claimed to be god-like in any fashion..... Only that he had attained what many have come to call "enlightenment" which is a greater understanding of the universe than many would search for themselves......
It is people like you or I for that matter that have placed this man in a god-like atmosphere because it seems that his wisdom has surpassed what we would search for ourselves.... and so to us, such a man would appear as "god-like" and not just a simple man......
Yet, he claimed to heal no one, nor fly through the sky or have any form of light around his being..... Just a simple man, with great wisdom that transcended the understanding that we have sought.......
This is my view of Buddha......

Ginger

What "book" did you read that in? A comic book?
That is not part of the buddhist philosophy. There are sects of buddhism that are more like a religion (talking about an afterlife and such) but they aren't part of the central idea of buddhism.

I am not sure that he performed miracles........
But these stories are written 100s of years later right.....so don't you think that those old tales will be twisted to make it more dramatic.
