It seems the most friendly to science and not that Buddhism does or doesn't believe in God, but they just don't talk about him. From what I understand, you can be a believer, nonbeliever, or an agnostic and still be a Buddhist. Buddhism has turned the attention away from the idea of God and is stricty focused on the "here and now" of humanity. Oh by the way, Buddha isn't a God, he is just a highly respected teacher.

For an atheist in the common sense of anti-theist then No. Buddhism is not the best choice .
But Buddhism is however a-theistic in the sense of without as in amoral
Seek not to follow the Buddha but to know what the Buddha knew. Remembering that Buddha means the knower. Rather like Christ means the Anointed. Gautama was a Buddha, the most widely quoted Buddha.
please examine all the varieties of Buddhism for some varieties are more theistic than others

Buddhism is a good religion for all the intelligent people.

There is no one god concept in Buddhism and Lord Buddha presented Dhamma ( concepts and teachings of Buddhism) to understand NIRVANA the ultimate consolation by improving the intelligence by meditation.

Read and learn Buddhism then U will understand .It is a great philosophy.

They're right - atheists can't have religion - its ok as a moral code and philosophy but their theories of reincarnation aren't much sillier than theist beliefs. So you're better off without. If you can't be moral without religion then you might as well become a sikh or buddhist or anything. If you can think for yourself, be an atheist.

The 100 million victims of religion killing with no end in sight is turning people off to all religion. That's religion's problem (they don't even want to talk about it) with no apparent solution.

Ummmmmm...... how wrong you are. Don't listen to the trendys around here who say Buddha is not a God. Go to a genuine Buddhist country e.g. japan and ask them if they think he is a God. Just the fact you had to ask the question in the first place shows you are searching for something and are not an atheist !!!

True.
Buddhism is not a religion. It is a philosophy of life.
I find it a refreshing change from these religions that preach one thing, but do and say another.
