There are more helicopter accidents per year than airplane (by percentage - there are more planes out there), but helicopters tend to be more survivable. Most of the reason for the higher accident rate is because the helicopter is used in higher risk environments (fire-fighting, heavy lift, remote areas)
Personally, I'd rather crash in a helicopter than an airplane, and that's why I fly them.

I quite doubt that the twist of destiny cost for helicopters is 30% better in conserving with flight hour. do not ignore that the saftest unmarried engine plane isn't an plane yet occurs to be a Bell 206 helicopter in accordance to the NTSB.

a helicopter is much safer in a crash than an airplane .. with a helicopter you can do an autorotation into a small place... airplane you will need more space to glide..plus the safest place to be in a helicopter crash is in the helicopter cause if you hit a blade everything will be thrown away from the helicopter casue its all rotating.. i would rather go down in a helicopter than an airplane any day

Considering that DONKEYS kill more people than airplane crashes every year...I'd have to say helicopters. But watch out though. dont eject at the wrong time or you'll be coming home for lunch without ur head!
