My four year old son has pretty much from birth had small bruises appear along his spine in different places on a regular basis. they don't appear to hurt him but i have never found an explanation as to what causes them and they are small like about 1cm round and as i said can be at the top middle or bottom of his spine -sometimes more than one sometimes only one.. i find it a little worrying as i remember reading something once about spinal bruising being related to an illness but can't remember which one.. any ideas?! He does attend nursery but is with me the rest of the time so i am absolutely sure no one is hurting him to cause the bruises.

my daughter had some of those too but I found the cause was after being put into a shopping cart the metal on the seat part was hurting her and causing the bruises. I started to notice the bruises would come out after a shopping trip.
It could be as simple as that but if it worries you go see a doctor or even google spinal bruising on your computer.

At four years old, surly he would tell you if he was being hurt.
If he says nothing about it, you should take hin to your Dr. and explain your concerns.
