My friends just moved here from France and they want to get cable TV and ideally also internet through cable. Any experience appreciated!

French TV uses a different system - SECAM - from the UK which uses PAL system.

They need to buy a PAL TV.

Cable Internet/TV? They'll need to sign up with a supplier, you need to find out which supplier(s) cover your area. Try NTL -- http://home.ntl.com/ - enter your postcode in the box on left to see if they coverthat area

Hi
Welll If they would try to get NTL they would get TV5 which is a french TV made out of France 2, France 3 and Radio Canada.
It is pretty good and I get to watch the 8pm news every evening at the local time of 7.30pm, making it about 1/2 later than the rest of the French population!!!
It has great stuff for all the family.
Hope this was the answer you were seeking for as everyone else thought of PAL/SECAM, not actual French TV as in French Channels or Program.

French TVs use some weird format, SECAM or something. I'm not sure whether you're trying to get French TV whilst in the UK or what?

Sky satellite offer a large range of foreign channels, including French. Far more channels than cable.

France uses SECAM and England PAL system.
But don't get rid of your French TV ! Most of the time you can tune it (you can toggle SECAM/PAL in the options, have a look at the user's guide)

Dont bother. British and French TV sucks big time.

The French and British do make some superb films though.

Did they really change countries to watch tv?
