What's the longest your cat has been gone and returned home? My baby, Dixie(who is 9 months old), has been missing since New Years Day. I am really beside myself with worry! I don't live near a busy highway, I know my neighbors, and I have a huge wooded area behind my house. Any ideas on where to look? Sucsess stories? I have had several outdoor cats go missing and return home months later, but not indoor ones.

Not to mention, my other indoor cat, Skittles, misses her dearly!

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

aww, you must be worried sick. Have you checked the animal shelter? If not, be sure to do so. Also, it may be helpful to put up some signs and put an ad in the lost and found section of the newspaper. If your cat didn't have tags or tattoo, it might help someone who has found your kitty to be able to contact you. I am hoping for the best, cats often wander off for lengthly periods of time so don't lose hope just yet.

Call the shelters and pounds first. If no success, then I hate to say it, but that huge wooded are behind your house seems like a more than likely possibility. Does your cat respond to it's name, or whistling, chirping, etc... If you have a way of calling the cat to you, even if it's shaking a can of treats or food, bring it into the woods and look. Use the calling technique constantly, then freeze and listen up for ANY sounds. If you hear rustling, meowing, or purring (if it's close enough), that's your cat! Follow the sounds, keep on making the calls, and find that kitty. However, if you didn't hear anything at all and can't find your cat and are worried sick, the SPCA's usually have ways of finding lost cats, you should call your nearest service. It's also a good idea to pin up signs all over the place. Good luck!

she's only a kitten and probably went out to explore and stuff. some cats do go missing for a long time but then they come back. unles ur cat has been sick. cats have been known to leave their owners properties wen they r sick or r goin to die. im sorry i have to tell u that but i dont wanna b gettin all ur hopes up thinking for sure she will come back home. try puttin up some posters to help find ur kitty. she might of been taken in by some one else and they could be lookin after her. did she have a collar n a tag? or been microchipped? if not the ppl who found her might not kno where to return her too. also try lookin in lost animal centres. some one could of picked her up n taken her there. try leaving food outside aswell. u said there is a wooded area behind ur property, she might just have gone walk about exploring. i hope u find ur cat.
