Only if we leave before the job is done. They were fighting for a cause they believed in, and if we leave before Iraq is secure, we have failed them.

Those 3000 troops are in good company, along with the thousands of American Service persons who fought and died freeing millions, including our own countrymen, throughout American history.

The United States is only about 230 years old, and yet has freed more people than any other nation in history.

I am a veteran of the First Gulf war. I had a choice to go or not. I was in delayed entry and could have back out at any time before I raised my right hand and swore to defend the Consitiution of the U.S. I would have not missed my service for anything. The only way soldiers die in vain is when the lilly livered, risk adverse cowards and their socialist fellow travelers are allowed to tie the hands of the military and not allow them to win. It happened in Korea and Viet nam, and if we are not careful, in Iraq. All soldiers know what the cost are in war because we pay them. If you could ask a soldier of the Roman legion, a private in Wellington's army in Spain or a Soldier in today's Military, they will tell you the same thing. They would tell you that eventually we all die. The question is wether or not you die for something or just die in be. Read the soliquy by Richard III in the play by the same name. It expresses it well. It is better to put your life on the line for something than to live you life as a coward that has never risked anything.

First of all, did you know any of them? I'm guessing not, but then my next question is: What do you care? Why ask such a question, if not to provoke and antagonize?

One of my buddies is in that "faceless 3,000" that the college liberal left likes to use as a tool to bash the President. His name is Benjamin Freeman, and he was 19 years old, tattooed and full of life. He died in Iraq in 2003, and now the liberal ghouls of the Democratic Party are using his name and face as a propaganda tool for their neo-socialist "cause", and it makes me sick with rage. It's not as if any of them care about Soldiers, or any other service-people; all they're interested in is losing this war for political capital in order to generate votes in the next election. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves.

Finally, in answer to your question: No, none of them have died in VAIN(not "vein", which is a part of your circulatory system-you know, the little tubes in your body that carry blood to and from the heart. Look it up.).

No......they went of their own free will. They believe that Iraq and Saddam had to be punished for flouting the UN and US regarding nuclear and chemical weapons.

The region may not be stable, but, at least the good people of Iraq have a chance to rebuild and regenerate the cities, towns, and way of life.

I don't think the Americans have achieved much from the Iraqi invasion other than earning some more global resentment points. Whats next? Somalia after Al qaeda ?? Gimme a break.

I mean like a friend of mine said if Iraq grew as much bananas instead of producing Oil would the US honestly have gone in for a war? Oh what lie?? What a shame ?? Poor soldiers surely they have lost their lives in vain.

Now the whole world has become a lot less safer and Thank you Big Brother USA

Yes indeed. Just yesterday in the news, Bush says that he is sending another 20,000 troops to re-secure areas which the U.S. had previously secured, because the Iraqis were incapable of holding down the fort. What does this indicate to you?

It's spelled vain honey , and no , I don't . They have all died honorably , fighting to give freedom and democracy to a nation that was brutalized by a tyrant .

23,000 men died in one day at Antietam. They are soldiers not innocent people. We joined knowing that we are the front line.

"It is foolish and Wrong to mourn the men that died, Rather we should thank God that such men lived" George S. Patton

Only if we pull out of Iraq leaving behind a terrorist stronghold.

you mean in 'vain'. But yes, I'm afraid very little of a positive nature has been achieved. They are fighting an unfair war, for reasons that do not stand up to close scrutiny.
