Why is it never because some person told them about him, or they read it in a book?

The fact is that people believe in whatever god, or religion, that they happen to have been brought up to believe in. That is to say they generally believe in what someone else told them. Those who begin to think for themselves often end up rejecting god and the organised religions. That is generally why Islam is on the increase, while Christianity is declining. People in the developing countries have less time to ponder. They are preoccupied with thinking about survival or the welfare of their children and themselves. Religion and gods thrive when things are not going well. They falter and fall by the wayside in better times.
There is more to it than that of course, but you get the idea.

To believe God exists you must have belief and faith because you could believe what you are told by other people and what you read but with out faith how will you be truly sure that God exists it goes the same of faith you could choose to have faith in God but if you don't believe that he exists then what is the point in having faith in him so you have to choose if you want to believe and have faith in God or do you choose not to believe in Goad and have no faith in him as you cannot do one and not the other

There ARE people who think god exists because that's what people have been telling them all their life. A lot of people are taught to believe and have faith in god right from early childhood.

I don't have faith that Mel Gibson exists. But people told me about him, and I read about him in books. But I won't beleive in something that doesn't make logical sense!

Someone did tell me about him, and I read it in a book too. Called the Bible. I also have read about Jesus in Roman and Greek history.

You believe what you do, for whatever reasons you have.
We believed what we do, for whatever reason we have.
We only ask that others respect what we believe even if they do not agree.
Atheists do everything they can to make us look like fools because we do not agree with them.
You do not see me attacking atheists for what they believe.
