I always liked dreads but I could not do it until I was really ready for them. I have dreads now for almost 2 years and I love them. My hair is washed and groomed frequenlty by a professional. Wearing dreadlocks does not affect your profession these days as long as it is clean and groomed. I am a makeup artist with clients from the different walks of life - lawyers, doctors, executives and they are all wearing locks now; it does not affect the respect they receive from their peers.

There are various opinions about what dreadslocks are and aren't, for me it is a new found awareness of myself. I learn't that dreadlocks can be spiritual, religious and cultural, they can be a bold statement, and most of all fashionable and fun. Growing locks for me was like exploring other aspects of me. And now society no longer bolsters my appearance as my appearance is bolstered by my strength of character.

The decision is really yours and if you are true to yourself, your true beauty will shine from within; dreads or no dreads.

Good thing for some, bad for others.

I don't have them, but I was really curious about them at one point and did a lot of research into them. I found out that I was too lazy to have dreadlocks. You really need to wash them every 2 to 3 days and it is rather difficult to get the soap out. Me, I like just being able to wash and rinse my hair and be done with it.

Search google for dreadlocks and you will find AMPLE information about it.

Best wishes!

hello, i think that you should go for it! i had mine for about a year and i loved every moment. if you look at the knotty boy website that is quite useful. I personally just did it from different advice from different people and came out with my own way. But they are alot f work. i didint realise how much, escpecially at first when you are trying to get the fixed properly. i can remember twisting and fixing them for hours and hours a week. if you dont they just look messy. but hey dont have to be dirty! tha t is just a rumour. i washed mine once a week with really cheap watered down shampoo in a larger jug of water, dont put the shamppo directly onto your head, and washing them actually makes them fix quicker coz it sort of makes them curl up. i have very curly hair so the peect type of hair, if you have straight hair the process of making them is very different. but they are fun and really do change your life! im doing medicine so had to take them out, i was kindly askeby one of my tutors!! but do it!!

sure i admire dreadlocks, i plan on getting them sometime...while the time is robust :P and you're authentic approximately washing them, you will desire to bathe them so as that the oils on your hair do not quit them from knotting up :) determine you employ residue-unfastened cleansing soap maximum people who finally end up getting dreads do not sense sorry approximately it! choose for it!

Depends on your career (some places the look just doesn't fit). If you are going to have them professionally started/maintained at least every 3 weeks -- then go for it. If you can't afford to maintain them then don't start.

Bad. Very bad idea. One of my dad's friends got his hair put in dreadlocks. You aren't allowed to wash it once it's done. His hair really started to smell and he started getting really bad headaches. When he went to the doctors about the headaches they found that a family of redbacks had been living in his dreadlocks. He was taken up to hospital to get his hair cut off. When they went to cut his hair a spiter bit into his brain and he died. This is a true story. I am not just making it up. IT REALLY HAPPENED!! My advice would be not to get them. They are really gross and you could end up dead too.
