Hi everyone! I need some help. I am naturally a dirty blonde, or maybe light brunette. The ends of my hair are VERY blonde, and not in great shape. I trimmed the ends today to start. However, I have a flight attendant interview on Thursday and I need to have nice, conservative hair. I don't want to go with my bleachy looking ends, and the top of my head brunette.

I am thinking of going from blonde to a brunette shade. How do I make the color even if the ends are so light and the root area is darker?

How would you go about acheiving a nice, natural hair color, without going to the salon? I can't afford the salon right now, so that's not a possibility.

What brand would be the best for this change?

Thanks so much!!!

For a job interview? Conservative is correct.

Consider putting your hair in a bun. How long is it?
For an airline job, I think you don't just need good grooming. You need to be able to STAY well groomed on long flights.

So whatever you do, keep it simple.

If you have time, go to your closest beauty salon and ask for professional advice.

If not then get a dark color with gold or reddish tones in it (try herbal essences or clairol) first apply the color to the lightest part of your hair and let it set in for a while (even though it isnt the greatest idea to put the color on your ends first because it may cause more damage there). Then once you see the color start to turn on the lightest area, start applying the color to the rest of your hair. Leave it on for as long as it says on the hair color kit and it is dry and the color is evenly distributed. Maybe even buy an extra kit to make sure you get enough color for your hair.

If your hair doesn't turn out the way you want and your hair isn't damaged you can try this process again but be aware that it may cause more damage to your hair and hair colorist suggest waiting at least 2 weeks before you color your hair again.

If your hair has a lot of gold or red in it already you may need to get an ash based color but i dont nessisarily suggest doing this if you are going darker or your blonde parts may look greenish.

Nutrisse by Garnier, it is an awesome product, and less expensive than most. My friend is a cosmotologist and she uses it. Remember to use the root application method, color your roots first, then do the ends--your hair is only "living" about two inches past the root, so the color doesn't absorb as well in the root area as well and needs to be left on longer, the "dead" part absorbs the color quickly and should be left on the least amount of time. Good luck on your interview!! PS DO NOT USE ANYTHING THAT SAYS "ASH"--IT WILL TURN YOUR BLOND LOCKS GREEN!!!!!!

ok use what you want but not clairol, anyways if you want an even color and ur ends are much more blonde than the upper half, than what you do is do your whole upper half and if it says wait 30-35 min on the box you wait 20 min and then put the rest on the ends and it should all come out the same color since the lighter it is the faster/easier its going to take to the color.

I just went from having alot of blond (overdone highlights) to a nice brownish/auburn and it was Clairol in a box. The dying process will make your hair all one color - not to worry. I would also use something with a pre-treatment and make sure you use a good quality conditioner after you dye it. P.S. Good luck with your job interview!

Hello there, I'm a salon owner.. just be careful you match the colour you want to your roots.. if your a natural strawberry type blonde then go for chesnut or moccha colours.. and take heed that when the packet says med brown, it usually nearly black.. best advice is to ask a hairdresser to to tell you your base depth.. and match the box number to yours.. ie.. 6n (med blonde)

Do you have the brand sunsilk where you are?
I have it at home
the new ones for brunettes, blondes and red heads.
You can use it everyday, i use the shampoo and conditioner for burnettes and my hair is already getting lighter and has more tones in it. I've only used it about 5 times as well.

I don't remember the name of the brand!!!
I saw one this weekend that has A LOT of highlights in it. I'd go with something like that. That way, the difference in the roots and tips of your hair should blend in better and not be a complete solid difference.
