i have this guy that has been on my heels at least the last 5 years
i mean he follows me around like a little puppydog sometimes he comes by my desk and just stares at me and i have never gave him any indication that something could happen between us but my question is would he still be chasing me this long if it was just about sex or might he really like me

Haha oh man, I feel your pain on this one.
Chances are, he probably is interested in more than sex. Maybe you are not giving him strong enough "no" indications that he thinks you're really nice and things might spark.
Try being honest with him, but tactfully. Tell him, for whatever reasons, you have your differences and you're just not interested.

I bet he likes you. Grow up and take care of this. Its not right to lead him on whether you do it accidental or intentional. Maybe he just thinks your a cool friend.
