According the Wikipedia, it means "house of meat" in Arabic and "house of bread" in Hebrew. Jesus was born there and laid in a manger (feedbox for animals). "Manger" means to eat, to chew, to devour. In Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy, we eat the flesh of Jesus (meat) under the form of bread. Spooky, huh?
