If a reused bottle is sterilised then there will be no bacteria growth from the bottle itself.
However, there will be bacteria growth in untreated water. This occurs most commonly in commercial mineral water, which is not treated in the way tap water is and so is not safe for vulnerable groups such as babies - it will contain growing bacteria.

This thing has to be done in a laboratory to be able to give a precise number. But to give you an idea try leaving your empty bottle for a while, then try and sniff the bottle mouth, you can tell right away that there's different on the smell. That for sure is a bacteria developing.

Recycling is a huge process, costing much money to ensure the next user of your coke bottle is clean and bacteria free. It starts with the user, hopefully he/she recycles and puts it in the correct container. Then the remanufacturer will melt it down into its form, plastic, aluminum, etc, then join it with others where it will be made into whatever it needs to be again....maybe a new coke bottle. Recycling isn't just using the plastic or aluminum again, it is totally remaking the bottle out of what has been allready used. Ask your parents to recycyle, or if they don't want to pay for that, then take them into a recycling center, you can earn a lot of money off of what people throw away.

agreed on the serial dilution. make a 2 or 3 fold diltuion on account that i do not comprehend what number micro organism could be in a used water bottle. Incubation time/temp, diverse micro organism have diverse incubation time and temperature. often, 30 ranges C is sweet or 37 or basically go away it at room temperature. do no longer ignore that at diverse temperatures, diverse micro organism will advance in yet differently. good success! keep your petri dish sparkling.
