It is simple, in every university I went in China ( and now there is quite a few ), boys like to play basket-ball. They even stay at night without lights when the temperature is 5 celcius degres. The ground are full almost all day with 10 guys on each basket.

Badminton is still very popular among every age and gender by it in the street, parcs, court.

Soccer begins to attract more and more men. On a soccer field they manage to be more than 60 players. They play small matches on a small part of the field. Useless to say it is crouded.

Old people like to do Taishichuan every morning in parcs with music and sometime swords.

Basketball's gotten more attention because of Yao, but compared to others, no.
Soccer/football, ping pong, volleyball, and swimming are the big ones it seems.

Cross-country/track and field have been getting pretty popular as one of the fastest man in the world right now is a Chinese man.

There are traditional Chinese sports that still remain popular, like a really old version of hackey sack, taichi among the older people, and wushu, though not everyone does it, a lot of people stil watch it.
