locking folders arent so secure, since the process is lock and it's only on kernel level, some software hides it, but once you enter safe mode or reformat the pc (drive c), you can now view the folder you've hidden or maybe you can't or whatever unsecure issues....why not use this method, prone for the file to be deleted but never can this files be opened unless by a password, using high encryption level, you will create a secured file, this file will then be mount by a software, then it will appear as a drive letter in my computer....secured! you can even backup that secured file (one file to hold all your private files), transfer that file and mount it using other pc....for that software try the opensource free TrueCrypt!

You can use either use the builtin feature of xp to encrypt your files or a third party software.
To encrypt files in xp:
1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.
2. Locate the file that you want, right-click the file, and then click Properties.
3. On the General tab, click Advanced.
4. Under Compress or Encrypt attributes, select the Encrypt contents to secure data check box, and then click OK.
5. Click OK. If the file is located in an unencrypted folder, you receive an Encryption Warning dialog box. Use one of the following steps: • If you want to encrypt only the file, click Encrypt the file only, and then click OK.
• If you want to encrypt the file and the folder in which it is located, click Encrypt the file and the parent folder, and then click OK.
If another user attempts to open an encrypted file, that user is unable to do so.
If you want you can download a third party software from these links:
