I'm walking myself- it works.
Let's keep this Simple, folks!
IF you burn more energy than you consume, you lose weight.
IF you have a sedentary lifestyle, a sudden bout of furious exercise does more harm than good. Shin splints, torn ligaments, heart problems.
A long, low impact workout is better in the long run, if only because it's easier to keep at it. Overdo it, and you take days off to recover. Once you start taking days off, it's too easy to lose the resolve that got you started.
Oh, and swimming is good, too.

Good for you on trying to lose weight! Good Luck! You should try to lose no more than 2-3 pounds per week. That is the healthiest way to lose weight. Walking will help boost your metabolism which will burn more calories and hence, weight loss results. However, you need to walk everyday in order to lose weight (depending on your weight and how much exercise you have been getting previously). Anyway, try walking for 30 minutes everyday. You need to get your heart rate up so pulling your daughter is probably not the best way to go about it. However, that is better than nothing. So, walk everyday for 30 minutes and don't eat any fat (or at least very little). If you keep your fat calories to under 25% of your total calories and you walk everyday then you should see the weight start to come off. Remember however that you have to train your body to increase its metabolism. So, you will not see any weight loss (most likely) for the first two or three weeks. This is why so many people give up. Stay with it!!!! The weight will come off! Good Luck. Brent

It's not so much how long it takes you to walk because you could be strolling along, anything over 3.5 kms at a brisk pace will get you going. Try to include some hills for your butt and hamstrings. Start slowly but then really get going, it's OK if you can't run as I think I'm really fit but a crappy runner. Eat sensibly, not huge portions, drink water before you eat, eat slow and stop when you are full. Don't turn away from yummy foods, they are OK occasionally if kept small. The weights and crunches are great, I also love Aerobics Oz Style, it may only be 20 minutes but it works. Mix it up a bit so you don't get bored. Good Luck, and don't go on any sort of fad diet.

I am doing the same thing. Walking is one of the best things you can do to lose weight. Just keep doing it. Don't stop ever. For the food part you have to try SimpleKibble. It's kibble made for people. It's really good. I bought some a few weeks ago and have ordered some more. I can go for days just eating it and i don't have to worry about finding food or cooking or going to the store. I lost a few pounds too. They don't really advertise it as a weight loss food but I lost weight eating it. The best thing is that it's just really convenient and easy. Check it out. You can get it at SimpleKibble.com. They have 3 different flavors. I have only tried the steak so far but I just bought some more steak and a bag of chicken to try out. Good luck! Hope this helps.

All you have to do is to simply drink 8-15 glasses of water per day plus eat only fruits and vegetables. No to carbonated drinks, spicy, fatty and salty food. No, too, to sweets and grapes, cantaloupe, watermelon and mangoes.
Try this coz I lose weight from 75 - 62 kilos in 3 months. And now, I am just maintaining my weight to 65 kilos only.
Hope you will find this a successful one.

dont focus on how much weight you are or are not losing, accept that a sudden increase in physical activity is going to exchange some fat for muscle and every litre of musce is heavier than every litre of fat.... so dont panic if you seem to plateau out...
eat a lot of salad.. fresh fruit and raw vegetable... it takes more energy for your body to diest raw food and it is better for you...
even though the increase in exercise will make actual weight loss a bit slower you will lose weight...and will get fitter and stronger too.
Walking is an excellent form of exercise and you use about 200 muscles in tour body while walking.

You betcha it will help your overall condition. Believe it or not you can lose very well with butt walking. Sit on the floor with your legs out in front of you and walk all over the house that way. Do not lift your legs from the floor to do it. Drink plenty of water but don't over-water as it can damage your health. Mmm

I've actually read in quite a few places that walking actually burns MORE calories than running. Also, when you're begining a workout plan, it's easier to do something low-impact.

Your work out is fine, but change your walking up a bit.
Walk, then fast walk, then run. Keep your body guessing, keeping your body in shock is key to keeping your body healthy

People who regularly weigh themselves and keep track of their progress in a journal may lose weight.
