will it be possible to apply for a permanent visa to continue living and working in australia after graduating? i'm an international student and will be in australia for a year (final year of bachelor's degree) in information systems..will i be able to obtain sponsorship from australian companies?

I think permanent residency for this category is not a problem but get the information from the right and proper source i.e. immigration. I suggest that you do not start a career on a "handout mentality" Your generation more than ever will be very fluid with globalisation, mergers and acquisitions. It rewards the talented and the resourceful and punishes those not adaptive and adaptable to change. Graduation is the start of a journey and not a destination. Good Luck!

Yes you can get a working visa with sponsorship from an employee

From what I hear from a freaked out resident that was in here talking about how the laws are changing and he thinks Communism is taking over...I'd rethink that possibility.
