This is a tough one from my own personal experience I met and fell in love with some one when I was 17. It was love at first sight and I vowed that she would be mine and was about a year latter we were together for about 1 yr. Then we broke up, (not) my idea I have never gotten over her I am 57 now and not a day goes by that I don't think about her. I saw and talked to her about 6 months ago and the same feelings are there, but we are both married and well it was not meant to be, in this life time any way. I guess it all depends on how much you love the person, it could be a week or 40 yrs.

If you really loved them the answer is never. Sorry, I know you don't want to read this but, it hurts a Little less daily and as other relationships trump those feelings you had for that someone, you will go on. Every woman that I told that I loved her I forever will, cause even when I think of them now I smile.

I personaly think for example if you are in a serious relationship with someone for say 3 years and you really loved that person, i think it takes half of that time to get over them, so 1year and half.
Thats my motto anyway.

a long time, but I think if you start dating again and see other people u'll be fine.. The idea is to keep yourself busy, so you are not constantly thinking about that person. good luck on this adventure.

It depends on how sure you are about this decision! If you really want to get over someone it will take less time! But sometimes we say that we want to get over someone but we really don't want to!

Once you tell yourself its really over and start moving on with your life the real healing will begin. Make a plan for yourself and focus on that but allow yourself to grieve too. Time heals a heartache but you and God heal your mind!
