Not idiotic- incompetant. Contrary to what some religionists believe the earth is an imperfect and hostile environment for species to survive in hence 99% of them no longer exist. Also the rate at which the earth is spinning varies through time which has implications for the climate and environment-I wonder why a "designer" would include such a flaw?

Well it's referring to the design itself, not the quality of the hypothesis. It states that intelligence must come from intelligence. Therefore, we must have an intelligent creator who made... you guessed it... an intelligent design.
You could always call it idiotic 'intelligent design' if it makes you feel better.
