I have just bought a new PC and wish to download certain new versions of programmes such as Media Player and Internet Explorer from Microsoft.com. Unfortunately the website keeps telling me I have a fake copy of windows which is impossible because it was bought from a reputable dealer. This has happened before with my laptop and I was able to download a programme which always you to manually verify your copy of windows but I can't find it now on the microsoft website. Can anyone help me?

Well even though the person is a reputable dealer, it could have been that he installed a fake copy on windows. many dealers do that to earn higher profits or to keep the cost low. I say just go back to him and ask him about it. If he has installed a genuine windows software on your pc, he would have given you the original box it came with.

You should take back the computer to this (reputable) dealer and have him explain to you whats up. If his as (reputable ) as you say he'll fix the problem.
