why not go to his school and check with the teacher. it is not too normal for a 7 year old child to cry when he or she has to wear uniform unless the uniform reminds him of school.

you have to get involved with his or her schooling. your child might be bullied or taunted by other students and since he or she is timid, it has a greater effect than if he or she was aggressive.

before you child goes to bed at night, go up to his or her room and ask him "what are the names of your friends in school" and see if you child can name some friends. then ask "who is your best friend?" or "what is the name of your teacher?" and "is your teacher nice?"

also, something i would prescribe if you have a son...why don't you let him take some taekwando classes on the weekends.... just to give him confidence. it will make him feel more secure and then when he goes to school, he may even tell the other boys that he is a red belter or yellow belter etc and the other boys will admire him.

if she is a girl, take ballet lessons or tap and jazz. this way, she would meet other girls who have the same interests as herself and this will make her feel more confident. also, if she tells some girls in class she is taking dancing, other girls will be interested in her because it is a girlie thing that is admired by little girls.

i did this for my kids when they were young and very shy. it helped them a lot...

Set up an appointment with the school guidance counseler and teacher to see if there is anything overwhelming him, i.e. bully, a hard subject etc. School guidance counselors(sp) are there for this type of thing and usually welcome the opportunity to help. Also, if you can get in touch with any other parents ask them what their kids are saying about the class...it's always possible that the teacher is a little more harsh then what they realize, you never know how a bad day in a teacher's life gets carried down to the students. Good Luck, isn't it a heartbreaker when they are crying and you can't fix it?

As a teacher, I suggest that you go make an appointment to see your child's teacher and ask if he/she's noticed anything different about your child. Teachers make notes and comments for future reference if they notice things are 'out of sorts'. And if the teacher has not noticed, having him/her aware could help you and your child find out what the problem is. It could be something really small... I'd sort it out with the teacher asap.

hey go to his school and speak to his teacher and ask about how he is in school, what he does in class, how he is with his classmates, how he does in his playtime etc.,

if you think he is timid and takes time to mingle with others - tell that to his teacher and ask him/her to spend some extra time with you son so that he gets comfortable with his school and the surroundings.

dont force him to school but at the same time send him to school daily without any break in between.jus try to do some real speaking with his teacher - this will help. all the best.

What does crying and being around people have to do with wearing a uniform?

Sounds like he is having a hard time of it. Maybe counseling might help him open up and help him get out what he is afraid of.
My youngest used to have a hard time at school and talking about things. I sought a counselor and he now is a different kid. I attended most of his sessions and we communicate really well now.
