As a truck driver, I spent a lot of time with them over the years, when we picked up such things as hay for export. Some times we slept on the farms, in the truck or in the barn. I was told that they only allowed male/female teams to do that if they were married, which we were. Got fed real good, but they got up very early in the morning. Always loved arriving during a barn raising. That was 20 years ago. One day I really should go up and visit some of the farms here in Missouri. I doubt they will remember me. Now I'm just a broken down old fart.

Basically the Amish believe in the simple life. They're stuck on how things were before the industrial revolution. They don't use motor vehicles or electric appliances. Their style is to turn the other cheek in an argument, so they seldom bother anyone else, and most others are willing to let them live as they wish.
There's not one place called their city. I've seen them in NY and was told most came there from Ohio. They have some great Amish restaurants in Sarasota, Florida

I know your Amish friend won't be reading any of these answers. Given that technology is forbidden in their society. Perhaps you should introduce Pandora's box to the lot of them. Thus we can hear the ranting and raving of the spiritually repressed as well on yahoo answers.

Step 1: Get off the computer.
The only thing I know (or have heard) is that they don't beleive in using technology.
How can you not beleive in it?

Well, all i know is that they don't use modern technology. which is why you probably won't find any of them answering your question.
since they don't use technology, i think its safe to assume they don't use guns.
That's about all i know about them.
