She is overweight but not obese. Rather than azsking random people about this, maybe you should ask your doctor a few questions. Then bring it up (nicely) to her. Be subtle. Just say, "I was thinking of going for a bike ride/walk this afternoon. Do you want to come? I think we can both use some fresh air!" That way, you won't hurt her feelings because you'll just be spending time with her and being active, and she'll want to do it more often.

according to your description, yes she is overweight. she should seek the advise of a nutritionist to ensure healthy weight loss. if she thinks she is obese, she should definitely see a physician before starting a diet or exercise program. she is only 11 years old, so if her eating habits are excessive, she will benefit greatly from a behavior change now, rather than later.

According to the BMI calculator at http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

Your sister is slightly overweight, but not obsese. Her BMI is 26.6, obesity is a BMI of 30+, and overweight is 25-29.9 Encourage her to exercise at least 30 minutes a day (playing outside is fine) and to eat less candy and junk foods and she'll be fine.

Well it appears that given her age and height she would fall in the morbidly obese category. She needs to get some help asap

you would need to consult an official weight/age/height medical chart to really know. I personally would say that that weight is unhealthy for someone her age. Get your parents involved if you are truly concerned, she should have a consult from a doctor!

have you talked to either your parents about this or your family dr.? I don't think she is "overweight" but may need some help making the right food choices!
