if you look around, you will notice that all the other countries have the yahoo homepage in their national language.
for ex.
Brazil has it in Portuguese,
japan has it in japanese,
mexico has it in spanish, etc.

then why india doesn't have a yahoo homepage in the national language which is hindi?

even if there are lots of cultures in india, it has been made a national language after all, so every one should know it!

I agree with you. You have made a good point. However, Malaysia and Indonisia homepage are in English too. I do not think that Yahoo ignore those countries. They may have taken the economic point of view. Maybe they think in those countries, the internet users are well-educated. They are able to read English as good as their mother language. I suggest you email to Yahoo, they may take your advice. Good luck.

Bcos all Indians (80%) know English. Only 60% know the national language. If we had ignored English, it would have been a terrible loss for the whole world. Everywhere in the world Indian are at the roots of any technology, department, field etc. Statistics predict in 2050 every street in the world will have at least 5 Indians living in it. This is because we know English. Chineese lack this and hence they cant rule the world. Whether we like it or not English has become the international language. If it is not English, it would have been some other langauge. Then the same question will arise for that language. Being in an age of science & technology, we should stop dividing people in the name of language. Language is just a means to communicate with our fellow human for living in this world. That is all. All languages have its own merits & demerits. Just becos a language is very old, it need not be the best one. I know many Indian Hindu Brahmins working in Middle East speaking fluent Arabic although they hate muslims. Knowing more languages is a resource today. Try to learn more languages.

Everyone in India can't read and write Hindi. Though Hindi is the national language, it is not common to everyone. It is not practical that everyone learns Hindi, whereas, Engish is a universal language and almost anyone in the world can understand English. That is why Yahoo India HP is in English.

India is a country of farmers , you must have heard . The population of India is second largest in the world . Inspite of such large population , there are less schools compared to the population . Hence everyone in India does know to speak Hindi but they don't know to read and write Hindi . And secondly only literate people those who know English have computers . Thus we have English language in our computers

Well, India has 23 official languages incl Hindi and English.

So I guess they had to agree on something and English is spoken throughout India and not only in specific regions or social groups.

because English is the universal language of India, and one of the official national languages.

There is no one "Indian" language. On the contrary, there are hundreds of Indian languages.

The fact is that anyone in India who is using a computer has probably been educated (and thus is literate) and chances are speaks and writes English, so you see, it makes sense.
