Have you ever seen Leland's hair, on "Dog, The Bounty Hunter"?
My son asked me the cut his hair, which was past his shoulders and pretty messy. I asked if he's like a cut like Leland's ... and he said sure. It looks really good. When he goes to work, he just ties it back with a black hair tye.

Good Luck. you will have to get past the messy inbetween stage of long and short hair ( have to go through the fozzy the bear look to get to the cool guy with the pony tail stage).

You can comb it, or if you have curly hair , let it grow really long and it will straighten out some .... and if you have thick hair the hair dressers can like thin it out with this weird comb thing with a blade on it..... just from my experience

Trim the front and sides and let the back grow, then start letting the rest grow, but keep it trimmed.

BE CAREFUL though or you will have a mullet.

the best way to do this is to get it trimmed every 6 weeks and let them know so they don't take too much off and keep it looking clean and they will slowly get it to the style you want

Fix your hair or use hair mousse/ gel. It'll make you look groomed & tidy.
