NO? religion by it's nature is corrupt, Adam and Eve sewing fig leaves was the first religion, but it didn't help their fear of God, or help them feel covered enough to face God. Then God had to kill a Lamb to cover their nakedness with lamb skins.Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
But feeling the shame even after leaving the Garden were too ashamed to tell their children what happened so Cain tried to approach God with that same religion and God did not except that either. Genesis 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.Genesis 4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering the Lord had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. 6 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."
So what did Cain do to fix that was kill his brother instead of a Lamb like God asked him too. And today religious people much prefer killing their brothers over doing what God tells them to; John 16:2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
Religion only makes evil men worst. By the way religion is a covering or a protection from God or the Devil depending on who you are serving. The word does not mean you have God at all or the Devil. But you use religion to protect yourself from your fears, very much like you use knowledge or wisdom to debate.
