Anyone else ever realize that there are NO religions with a female god in charge, except for Wiccan? There's goddesses in greek and roman mythology, but they still have a higher male god. Why is this? Or is there another I'm missing?

Also, close-minded people need not respond, I just want some knowledge, not judgement and conversion, if thats what I was looking for I'd go talk to my mother.

Because the world is ruled by men. and mostly men who are thinking women are below them there for having a high ranking Goddess would give women the idea that we areas good if not better then men. so if there where any religions other then Wicca men probably ended those rather quickly. great question though. although you missed that the Catholics practically have Mother Mary as a god so they i think are the closest. Wiccans being the only real ones with a Goddess. ~*~Blessed Be~*~

The book The White Goddess by Robert Graves discusses that phenomenon. He believes that all people originally worshiped a mother goddess before they developed a concept of male power.
The reason religions have male head gods today is because almost all societies are patriarchal.

Most cultures throughout history have been heavily patriarchal. So it's not too much of a stretch to believe that a generally patriarchal society will choose deities that are seen as male or having masculine qualities. I'm not even sure if there are any other faiths that place a female deity above or even equal to that of the highest 'ranking' male deity.

As we are now living in a Patriarchal society all things are thought of as being created by males.and named so.
The Pagan/Wicca , witch religions are still either all Matriarchal in nature. Which would mean all things came from the female and named that way. or a blend of Patriarchal and Matriarchal . Giving due respect to each in its own time. And there are some of them that are Patriarchal also.
Ps: both all Matriarchal societies and all Patriarchal societies have made a mess of their socities in past history.

To quote the late James Brown, "It's a man's, maaan's, maaaaaaan's world"
I come from the opinion that religions are human constructions. Men traditionally hold positions of power in society. When they create religions they create them to reflect the realities of the world they live in and thus religions reflect (and act to justify) the patriarchal order.

In the entire scope of things, it doesn't really matter. You are identifying with being female, but in fact you (as soul) have no gender. You have reincarnated many times alternating between male and female incarnations. Gender only comes with the physical body and once you've transcended the physical realm, there is no sex/gender. At that time, you absolutely will not be concerned with this issue.

Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."
I just figured the female was created in God's image too. Isn't that what it says? Do you really think God has to have a penis or a vagina? We're talking about spiritual creatures here, ones that can live on plants with names like "the Tree of Life."

Dear asker, God has no gender God is neither male nor female...
He is the one God who has no partner. Nothing is like Him. He is the Creator, not the created, nor a part of His creation. He is All-Powerful, absolutely Just, All-Knowing, All-Merciful, the Supreme, the Sovereign. There is no entity worthy of worship besides Him.

In Islam, Allah is referred to in both the masculine and the feminine (when reading the Arabic text) regarding certain divine attributes. In reality, God/Allah is neither male or female as both are created by God. God is nothing like the creation. God is most unique.

I agree with the answer above mine..God is neither male or female..though I don't know why God is always referred to as "he" or a male....God in my religion is a form of light.... I guess people rather refer to God as "he"..or a male..
