Fly if you can. otherwise:
Day 1- Sydney to Melbourne
Day 2- Melbourne to Adelaide
Day 3- Adelaide to Ceduna
Day 4- Ceduna to Norseman.
Day 5= Norseman to Perth.

You can make it shorter by trying Sydney-Adelaide direct, and Ceduna-Perth. But I wouldn't advise it, especially for tourists.

I guess it depends on how quickly you want to get there. Driving will take DAYS. At least 3 I would think. You can take the train aswel, See Great southern railways for more details but it will still take a couple of days. If your not look for a scenic adventure I'd fly. Probably work out around the same price when you con cider how much you'd spend on food for the trip etc and once you've taken into account fuel and possible accommodation.

R u coming back? About 4,000Kms via Broken Hill and Port Augusta so u could do it in 4 days. Don't drive at night on the Nullabor Plain, too dangerous. 4 days is realistic. A great drive, and everyone should do it at least once.
petrol of course is not cheap and is around a $1.50 at Norseman so will b a little dearer in between there and Ceduna. Motels r pretty good but not cheap either. Madura is a good one so is Belladona.

You'll be driving through the desert in a very, very sparcely populated area. I'd be concerned about the risk of your vehicle breaking down and you getting dehydrated. Flying would be easiest, but if you're in the mood for adventure and pit stops along the way, I'd say go for the driving but be sure to consult some experience tourists and locals for advice.

Have fun1

Depending on how long you have and how much of the country you want to see. Driving will take days - up to 1 week whereas flying will take approx 4-5 hours.

I would definately fly, unless you are looking for a long, scenic route through the desert.
