No, it does not effect penis size or increase libido. In most healthy men that have no erection problems, it will have little or no effect when taken.

If you really want to know how it works...

Viagra's generic name is sildenafil.

The physiologic mechanism of erection of the penis involves release of nitric oxide (NO) in the corpus cavernosum during sexual stimulation. NO then activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase, which results in increased levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), producing smooth muscle relaxation in the corpus cavernosum and allowing inflow of blood. Sildenafil has no direct relaxant effect on isolated human corpus cavernosum, but enhances the effect of nitric oxide (NO) by inhibiting phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), which is responsible for degradation of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum. When sexual stimulation causes local release of NO, inhibition of PDE5 by sildenafil causes increased levels of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum, resulting in smooth muscle relaxation and inflow of blood to the corpus cavernosum. Sildenafil at recommended doses has no effect in the absence of sexual stimulation.

Essentially Viagra works by a very similar mechanism that caffiene does. Like caffiene, Viagra is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, however, unlike caffiene which inhibits the breakdown of cyclic AMP, viagra inhibits the breakdown of cyclic GMP. both cAMP and cGMP are kind of like "'on" switches for your cell. The special property about viagra is that it is taylored to inhibit specific Guanine phophodiesterases that are found in muscle tissue and blood vesseles (thus the dialating effect). So with that said, it keeps cGMP on which is a upstream mediator of nitric oxide (NO), which is the actual vasodialating chemical. Viagra can just as easily be given to people with severe heart problems since it does not just dialate your penis blood vessles.

The second part, can it enlarge your penis..... well, it wont make it any bigger than it already is, but it will make it the biggest it can be. Their is some science in penis enlargments that you might want to take a look into, they all look kind of sketch from what i have read, and i would not recommend it. Anyways, their goes a chunk of my molecular pharmacology class i took about a year ago.

VIAGRA is an effective treatment for male erectile dysfunction, or ED. This is also known as impotence. VIAGRA is a little blue pill you take only when you want to have sex. VIAGRA helps men consistently get and keep an erection when they become sexually stimulated.

How does VIAGRA work?

VIAGRA enables men with ED to respond to sexual stimulation. When a man is sexually excited, the arteries in his penis relax and widen. This allows more blood to flow into the penis. The increased blood flow causes the penis to become hard and erect. The veins that normally carry blood away from the penis then become compressed. This restricts the blood flow out of the penis. With more blood flowing in and less flowing out, the penis enlarges, resulting in an erection.

Sometimes the nerves or blood vessels that are part of this process don’t work properly. If this happens, a man may not be able to get or keep an erection. VIAGRA increases blood flow to the penis, so that when a man is sexually excited, he can consistently get and keep an erection. When he is done having sex, the erection goes away.

It is effective only for having sex once only. There will not be any permenent increase in the size of penis.-

viagra has nitric oxide(NO). NO has the property to dilate blood vessels.so when there is problem in erection then NO from viagra goes in blood it act as a local hormone, dilate the blood vessels of penis allowing more of the fluid to escape out in the spongy tissue of penis from arteries like corpus cavernosa. leading to increase in its size due to fluid retention and erection.this erection further compresses the vein so that the blood can not go back from penis leading to more retention of fluid and more erction
