"The heart of the human problem for the Gnostic is ignorance, sometimes called "sleep," "intoxication," or "blindness." But Jesus redeems man from such ignorance. There is no need whatsoever for guilt, for repentance from so-called sin, neither is there a need for a blind belief in vicarious salvation by way of the death of Jesus."17 Rather, Jesus is savior in the sense of being a "spiritual maker of wholeness" who cures us of our sickness of ignorance.18"

Is there a cure for the sickness of ignorance?

By itself it make very good sense, especially the part about the "vicarious salvation" in "the death of Jesus". For me, Jesus works best as an example, not to be slavishly imitated but to be understood and emulated (in a sort of grownup W.W.J.D.). The only part that would give me pause is the implied offer of teaching. Freeing one from ignorance and showing one how to think is a noble goal. Exchanging one spoonfed mythological framework for another is different. Gnostics were known for their complicated, esoteric theological doctrines that were both hard to understand and considered necessary to advance to higher spiritual levels. Every doctrine should be personally tested before being swallowed whole. As William Blake had it, "No bird flies too high if he soars with his own wings."

Gnosticism makes a pretty good case against there being a cure for ignorance. It tears down the house it builds.

Sounds like an attempt to religify 'atheism'

Yes there is a cure, its called learning. First freeing the people from the feelings of guilt placed upon them by the religions. Getting them to ask questions and seek truth.
Become like a little child meant, to unlearn all that you have learned and start again. Mostly religions are based on deeply buried faulty premesis. Thats why the need is to know you know nothing, like the matrix, the world has been pulled over your eyes since your first birth.

Yes it makes sense. As it(in the form that you asked) is a return to all you need is to believe in something greater than yourself.
Two cures for this.
one is called knowledge. gained from trying a path and learning what went right and wrong and why.
The other is. If you can not find me within your self. You will not find me without.

Good. Yes there is, most people don't know there asleep because of "beliefs", brought about by religion & society. If they become "truth" seekers instead of "believers" they have a chance to wake up.

The most manifested attribute of ignorance is when men believe that apart from God, the creator there is opportunity for intelligence.

yes, the cure for the sickness of ignorance is from the Gnosis of God's presence and the Light of God's will. This is achieved through deep meditation (i.e. transcendental meditation) with the help of a guide.

Deep meditation is the answer. Merely coverting to a religion will not do the trick

There surely is. It's called spiritual discernment, the ability to recognize the word of God as truth; and its given to those who know Jesus as Lord.
